Welcome to Janhit Foundation

Janhit Foundation was founded in 1998 by Dr. Anil Rana, an educationist by profession and an environmentalist at heart. The organisation was established with the aim of working on environmental and water conservation in Western Uttar Pradesh, responding to the growing challenges faced by communities dependent on natural resources for their livelihoods.

From its inception, Janhit Foundation has believed that meaningful change can only happen when awareness and action go hand in hand. Along with consistent work on the ground, the organisation has always focused on educating communities, strengthening local participation, and building a sense of shared responsibility.

Over the years, the scope of work expanded to address wider social concerns. Today, Janhit Foundation works extensively in the areas of water conservation, sustainable agriculture, environmental conservation, child rights protection, women’s rights protection, and income generation activities for women from marginalised communities. Each programme is designed to create long-term impact by empowering communities, promoting self-reliance, and protecting the rights of the most vulnerable.

Under the leadership of Smt. Anita Rana, Director, Janhit Foundation has also played a key role in strengthening child protection systems in Meerut. The organisation was entrusted with the responsibility of managing the 24×7 Child Helpline (1098) on behalf of the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. Based on its strong and consistent work record, Janhit Foundation was further selected to operate the Railway Child Help Desk (Railway CHILDLINE) in Meerut in 2019, extending support to children in distress at railway premises.

Registered as a non-profit organisation under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, Janhit Foundation holds tax exemptions under Sections 12A and 80G of the Income Tax Act and is also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), 2010. Over the years, the organisation has partnered with bilateral and multilateral agencies, corporate donors, and development organisations, successfully implementing multiple projects across sectors with transparency and accountability.

Janhit Foundation continues to work with the belief that sustainable change is possible when communities are empowered to shape their own futures. We welcome you to be a part of our journey and join us in creating meaningful, lasting change in the lives we touch every day.
