No vehicle zone at Abu lane

Abu lane is the biggest and the busiest market place in Meerut. Everyday thousands of vehicles pass through the main road of the market. The market place is visited by thousands of people who walk along the roadside thus, creating traffic jams and congestion. Moreover, owing to continuous power cuts, the whole market place witnesses a polluted cover of smoke coming out through generator and vehicular pollution. It is difficult to breathe in this congested market with not even a single tree in the whole stretch where thousands of shops are located. There is a lot of air and noise pollution which compels the people residing in the vicinity to breathe in dangerous gases and bear continuos noise pollution. Janhit Foundation studied the air and noise pollution and the results are very alarming. After bringing this to the light of concerned government departments which did not pay heed, Janhit Foudation knocked the doors of the Hon'ble High Court and filed a PIL on this important environmental issue which mainly concerns the human lives. The PIL was filed in 2005. The case is on the final hearing now
